What is the origin of Bernese Mountain Dogs?Bernese Mountain Dogs come from the Swiss Alps, specifically the Bern region. They were originally bred as all-purpose farm dogs, helping with herding cattle and pulling carts. Their strong build and friendly demeanor made them perfect for life in the mountains. The breed’s history goes back to Roman times when big dogs were brought to Switzerland. Over the years, farmers mixed those early dogs with others to create the Bernese we know today. They started gaining recognition in the early 1900s, and now they’re super popular as family pets thanks to their gentle nature and loyalty!
